Tenured position posting: COMMUNITY HEALTH INVESTIGATOR

The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health seeks a mid-career, tenure track, Community Health Investigator dedicated to the conduct of research aligned with our mission emphasizing the relationship between clinical practice and community health with a focus on serving vulnerable populations and promoting health equity across the lifespan.

We are interested in candidates with a demonstrated track record in community-engaged research devoted to studying and advancing solutions for high prevalence health conditions. We are also committed to research that intersects with and promotes health equity and the community and population level. Details on the research mission can be found in the department’s website. The department has strengths in maternal-child health, behavioral health including addictions, and chronic care management with residencies and fellowships in sports medicine, geriatrics, palliative care, and primary care psychology and affiliated fellowships in HIV/HCV, global health, primary care psychiatry, and a master’s in public health program with the UMass Amherst campus.

We are located in central Massachusetts on a university-based academic health science campus that includes schools of medicine, graduate nursing and biological sciences, as well as the UMass Memorial Health Care, the largest not-for-profit health care delivery system in central Massachusetts. Central Massachusetts is a diverse region, including the city of Worcester, the second largest city in New England, and suburban and rural communities. We have programs that serve across the New England region. We have expertise and resources available to investigators for quantitative and qualitative methods, implementation science and population health research

The medical school and department are committed to investing financial resources and a tenure track position to expand research and achieve success. This researcher will join a core group of investigators and active emeritus investigators clinical researchers led by department chair M. Diane McKee, MD, MS and research director Suzanne E Mitchell, MD, MS. There is opportunity to collaborate with investigators in other departments including Population and Quantitative Health Sciences, Medicine, OBGYN, Pediatrics and Psychiatry, and the service and consulting division, Commonwealth Medicine. Opportunities exist to collaborate across the UMass 5- campus system. There will be some expectation to participate in medical student, resident or graduate student education and training.
