UNC Center for Health Equity Research is a vibrant intellectual home for health equity research and innovation at UNC-Chapel Hill and aims for global recognition of its role as a leader in the field. The work of the Center will bring together scholars, trainees, and community members from diverse disciplines to form collaborative multidisciplinary teams with a shared commitment to health equity, innovation, and translational research. This shared commitment will serve as a bridge among their disciplines and levels of experience. Center members generate new knowledge and contribute to the science of health equity research thus driving innovation in collaboration with underserved communities to improve health.
The Center for Health Equity Research is located at the UNC Department of Social Medicine in the School of Medicine.

Position Summary
This position is a Project Coordinator for the NC CEAL research initiative, one of 21 Community Engagement Research Alliance (CEAL) against COVID-19 in disproportionately affected communities research teams across the country. NC CEAL is committed to increasing trustworthiness in its engaged action with North Carolina’s African American/Black, American Indian/Native American, and Hispanic/Latinx communities through three overarching goals: 1) Disseminate trustworthy and science-based COVID-19 information and resources; 2) Train Community Leaders on Evolving Issues Related to COVID-19 and its Sequelae and Educate others; and 3) Rapidly Assess, Innovate, and Evaluate Efforts to Prevent and Reduce COVID-19 Burden. The research initiative is based out of the Center for Health Equity Research in the Department of Social Medicine at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC. This position will be responsible for the education and training needs of NC CEAL. The research team includes experts from the fields of public health, communications, and medicine with expertise in community-engaged research.
This position will serve as a Project Coordinator (Community Stakeholder Planning and Implementation). The Project Coordinator will provide needed support to the Community Response Team (CRT), Equity in Access and Uptake Task Force, and liaison closely with the coordinator for the NC CEAL coalition and communications sub-team. This Project Coordinator will coordinate project activities/requests with the business/finance office to ensure timely response to project needs/requests. The person in this position will develop and oversee engagement with African American/Black, American Indian/ Native American and Hispanic/Latinx populations in North Carolina as well as health providers. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting qualitative and quantitative community-engaged and health disparities research.
